Joseph A. Runk, Jr. is one of two Principals of Mission. He has extensive transactional experience in loan acquisitions, loan sale advisory and multi-national commercial lending. From 2000 to 2002, Mr. Runk was associated with the Carlton Group, where he ran the loan sale advisory business with William David Tobin. During Mr. Runk's tenure, this group was the top whole loan sale advisor in the country, closing nearly of $4 billion of transactions. Mr. Runk served as Director of Acquisitions for a private mortgage investment fund, focusing on residential mortgage investments. During his two-year tenure there, he purchased approximately $200 million of performing mortgage loans and $100 million of non-performing mortgage loans.

Mr. Runk also served as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Trading at Residential Funding Corporation. His responsibilities at RFC included business development, due diligence, real estate valuation, pricing, mortgage analytics, portfolio management and contract negotiation. While at RFC, he purchased over $400 million of non-performing mortgage loans. Prior to RFC, Mr. Runk was the Manager of Acquisitions at Ocwen Financial Corporation, with due diligence, pricing and contract negotiation responsibilities. There, he acquired in excess of $1 billion of non-performing mortgage loans. He has also worked at National City Bank and the Federal Reserve. Mr. Runk earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree with concentrations in Economics and Finance from the University of Richmond and an MBA from Duke University. He was a Division 1 scholarship basketball player for the Richmond Spiders.
